A new year means new writing goals! I'm not a big one for New Year's resolutions, but jotting down writing goals helps make them achievable. If you haven't tried this before, you might want to give it a spin if you have difficulty fulfilling your writerly goals—you never know what might push you over the finish line to put the end on a short story or novel, etc.
Writing Goals for 2026
Release The Allison Lee Chronicles Vol. 4
As I write this post, I am neck-deep in edits from my editor at The Wild Rose Press. She is my second editor, and I must admit, I was trepidatious about working with a new editor, after my previous one, who first said yes to Dragons Walk Among Us, called it quits. Well, the fourth volume and final volume in The Allison Lee Chronicles is my second book my current editor—the first being Phantom Algebra—and I couldn't be happier. With any luck, Allison's last adventure, The Bane of Dragons, will release in 2026, somewhere in the ballpark of April to June.
Here's the blurb…
Monstrous forces from across the multiverse have set their eyes upon Earth to create a beachhead in the universe humanity calls home. The problem with that? Humans will be enslaved…and used as food stock for skaags, ravenous shapeshifting super soldiers.
Allison, a teenage alien human hybrid, is humanity’s only hope. She must travel the slipstream, the super highway through the multiverse, to bring the conflict to the enemy’s turf. With a crack squad of miscreants as allies, she does just that, but the plan goes awry.
They end up as the prisoners of angry terrestrial octopi. Their attempts at negotiation only see them handed over to General Bane, the skaag supreme military commander feared throughout the multiverse. Allison discovers that to save everyone she loves, she must unravel the magic binding General Bane and his kind to their overlords. To accomplish that, she must face her greatest fear, herself.
Intrigued? You can read the prologue to the series here on my site. You can find the previous books on Amazon and elsewhere.

Release Solarflame
Right now, Solarflame is still in the hands of the editors at Cloaked Press, being marked up with gallons of red ink. But hey, I have a cover!

Here's the blurb…
A sweeping fantasy in the spirit of Robert Jordan’s The Eye of the World and Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern, Solarflame is a story of dragons, destiny, and divine fire — where family, duty, and sacrifice collide in a kingdom on the brink of ruin.
When the Overlord is assassinated, the Dalgaard domain teeters on the edge of chaos. His heir, Rangthor Dalgaard, must rise to meet the gods themselves — or see his world consumed by darkness. But to commune with the divine, he must endure a trial of unimaginable pain: self-immolation in the flames of Solarflame.
⚔️ Fantasy fans, prepare for a world of dragons, gods, and fire-forged destiny.
✨ Coming soon from Cloaked Press – Stories With Teeth.
You can jump into the world of Solarflame for free right here on my website! I have two short stories up, The Overlord's Trials, which introduces you to Isla and her dragon Sable, and Scars, where you meet the magician Cornelia. All these characters appear in The Magician's Quest (in an anthology on Amazon), and one meets their destiny.
Draft Vampire Dragon WIP
My younger son declared he wanted a book about vampire dragons. I've already done the initial outline for this fantastical yarn. I'd like to have at least the rough draft done this year. A stretch goal is to finish the edit.
Finish Rewrite of Short Story: The Dream Service
In between editing, I'm working on rewriting a sci-fi short story I've had kicking around for years, titled The Dream Service.
Initial Planning for Solarflame II
Lastly, I want to plan the second installment in the world of Solarflame. I have various notes, and even, an outline from a few years ago for a trilogy. I'll revisit these, but I have learned a lot since jotting them down, so I'm sure much will change. Also, my thought at the moment is that this will be a duology. As with much in life, time will tell!
My parting thought is this: if you're having difficulty meeting your writerly goals, consider writing them down and revisiting them now and again throughout the year. Good luck!
Addendum
My edits for both The Bane of Dragons and Solarflame are turned in! Stay tuned for more news on both fronts…
