New Project
Finally, it's time…time to start a brand new project, a new novel unrelated to my YA series, The Allison Lee Chronicles. I finished the rough draft of Allison's fourth and final adventure. What a feeling to be living the dream! Not just to have become a published author but to have a completed four book series under my belt—wowza! Of course, I am getting a little bit ahead of myself. I still need to edit the fourth volume and submit it to my editor…so there is still a long road ahead. First, however, I have an entire book to plan, write, and edit, and I even have a deadline.
New Challenges
This new project presents several challenges. First off, I have a deadline and not the self-imposed kind. The deadline is why I'm not busy editing Allison's final adventure. I'm not too worried about meeting the deadline, but it hangs over me like the guillotine's blade. Second, this will be a standalone novel, which, to date, is something I've never attempted. I've written standalone short stories, but for my book-length work, I've always thought about series. I suppose that comes with being a speculative fiction writer. Lastly, the story will take place in a shared world, so avoiding continuity errors and playing nice with other peoples' tales is necessary.
What is the new yarn about?
The new tale is a ghost story set in a high school. For more of a hint, take a gander at the image below…
