Howdy,
Well, I’m going to be a busy bee this weekend. Willamette Writers Conference. This won’t be my first rodeo, but I haven’t been to this conference for several years at least, maybe more. I’m a wee bit nervous, but I’m looking forward to it. I’m pitching to a few people and will be attending the various seminars throughout the day. On Sunday, I’m having the first page of my novel critiqued by someone. I’m not sure by who, it was a last-minute conference special, a free special. Can’t turn down free, not when it comes to being a starving writer.
Now, pitching…hhhmmmmmm. Not my favorite thing in the world, but not that horrible either. I think I have my pitch down pretty well. My logline is decent, and I know my story from front to back and back to front. The neurons firing in my brain created it, after all. Anyway, I think the main thing is to have a good logline, present a logical train of thought, and be enthusiastic. I’m not naturally demonstrative about much, but I’ll put in an extra effort while pitching.
If you’re reading this, wish me good luck. In return, I’ll wish you good luck if you ever pitch your work.
