Bright, fiery sun with a solar flare erupting, surrounded by a dark space. Orange and yellow flames create a dynamic, intense scene.

Release Day

Red and white fireworks burst in a night sky, creating a vibrant, festive display. The dark background enhances the colorful spectacle.

If you ever had a novel released, you know that in many ways, it's a feeling that never gets old! Well, Solarflame is my fifth novel to break out of digital prison and avoid the abysmal round file to see the light of day. As always, I feel quite pleased, energized, and ready to tackle the next project!

Dragons Galore, Magic that Scars, and a Flaming Sword

Dragon breathing fire over a sword with flames. Text: "Solarflame" by Dan Rice. Green background with fiery highlights. Mysterious mood.

To get a taste of what's in store for you in Solarflame, you can read The Overlord's Trials (dragon racing, anyone?) and Scars (hint: magic!)for free on my website.

Here's the blurb:

For centuries, the Dalgaard Overlords have ruled their kingdom by the might of their dragons and the incredible power of their most feared weapon, the sword Solarflame. When the Overlord is assassinated, the kingdom plunges into chaos. A new generation must step into the fray to prevent the domain from falling to its enemies.

Rangthor Dalgaard ascends to Overlord after the assassination. Rangthor must overcome his grief and find the depth of character needed to commune with the gods in a mere two weeks. Failure to perform this most sacred duty will result in the kingdom plunging into darkness. Communicating with the gods means suffering the terrible pain of self-immolation, which is a trial he is unprepared to face.
