Dragons Walk Among Us Turns One

b-day cake

It's fun to be one!

I still have to pinch myself. It's hard to believe Dragons Walk Among Us was published one year ago. Sometimes it feels like yesterday. Other times, it seems like eons ago! The below video shows me reading a few pages from the novel's first chapter.

I 've learned tons about writing and publishing in that year. The hardest lesson, or perhaps the most depressing, is publishing a book is only the first step on an arduous trek of getting it in front of readers. You have to market your stuff, and that is not easy. It's not an insurmountable task but requires time, patience, diligent practice, and usually a credit card number!

I have found two excellent (and free!) courses on Amazon ads.

  • Bryan Cohen does his free course once a year (I think). I'm in the middle of it right now, and it's well worth the time.

  • Dave Chesson has a free Amazon ad course available on his website. It's also well worth the time to watch his videos. Also, he's the creator of the software Publisher Rocket, which strikes me as a must-have for anyone trying to sell books using Amazon ads.

I'm just dipping my toes into the ad world, and I have high hopes that running ads will get The Allison Lee Chronicles into the hands of more soon-to-be fanatical fans. Incidentally, I've discovered Book Barbarian is the best means to sell my book when I have a sale. If you write fantasy or sci-fi, using Book Barbarian will move your books.

Along the way, my book won a couple of awards and was a finalist for another. In addition, the book received excellent reviews, especially the one from Kirkus.

An inspirational and socially relevant fantasy.

If the tale of an outsider struggling to fit in at school only to discover she possesses latent supernatural powers she must master to save the world appeals to you, read Dragons Walk Among Us today. You'll be ready for Allison's further adventures in The Blood of Faeries. I don't have a publication date yet, but it will be out later this year or early next year.
