Holy moly level great news! The Great Rewrite is done and dusted. It took a little bit longer than I hoped, but still went, all in all, very quickly.
Here are some stats:
45 chapters – Initially I thought I’d have closer to 40 chapters due to chapter consolidation, but several brand spanking new chapters were added due to the increased complexity in the characters and plot.
Chapter length is averaging just a hair under 2,600 words.
Overall word count is approximately 116,700 words, which I think is smack dab in the acceptable word count range for a fantasy novel.
Needless to say, I’m pretty pumped. Of course, I have loads of work ahead of me. I think I might call the next phase the Monumental Edit…or, maybe the Onerous Edit. Anyway, here’s to hoping the editing process, whether it be monumental or onerous or both, is as satisfying as the rewrite.
